Regular Season Round 7: Ploiesti - Farul Const. 92-57

Bottom-ranked Farul Const. (0-8) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to second ranked Ploiesti (6-1) 92-57 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Ploiesti. Farul Const. managed to win second period 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ploiesti dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Farul Const.'s 34. They outrebounded Farul Const. 40-21 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Serbian power forward Dragan Zekovic (210-87, agency: Beo Basket) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points and 14 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. Center Andrei Ene (202-95) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Ploiesti players scored in double figures. Ploiesti's coach Vladimir Arnautovic felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Georgian Paun (202-94) produced 28 points and center Marian Minea (203-85) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Ploiesti have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 6-1 record behind leader Oradea, which they share with CSU Sibiu. Loser Farul Const. still closes the standings with eight games lost. Ploiesti will meet league's leader Oradea on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Farul Const. will play against Targu Mures (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
