Regular Season Round 8: Walter Tigers - EWE Baskets 60-96

There was no surprise in Tuebingen where 15th ranked Walter Tigers (2-6) were crushed by fourth ranked EWE Baskets (6-1) 96-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. EWE Baskets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Walter Tigers' 32. They outrebounded Walter Tigers 41-26 including 31 on the defensive glass. EWE Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian power forward Nemanja Aleksandrov (210-87) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Dominik Bahiense de Mello (190-85, agency: Pro One Sports) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. American point guard Jonathan Wallace (187-86, college: Georgetown, agency: Pro One Sports) produced 18 points and his fellow American import forward Tyrone Nash (203-88, college: Notre Dame) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. EWE Baskets maintains fourth position with 6-1 record. Loser Walter Tigers dropped to the fourteenth place with six games lost. EWE Baskets will face bottom-ranked s Oliver Baskets (#18) in Wuerzburg in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Walter Tigers will play on the road against the league's leader Bayern Muenchen (#1) and hope to win that game.
