Regular Season Round 7: Oberhausen - Herner 62-78

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Herner TC and 11th ranked Oberhausen had identical 2-4 record. But Oberhausen was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Herne 78-62 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 39-21 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Herner TC made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for Czech guard Katarina Flasarova (171-85) who helped to win the game recording 24 points. Serbian power forward Minja Terzic (188-79) contributed with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Herner TC players scored in double figures. Herner TC's coach Marek Piotrowski used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Fijian guard Valerie Nainima (168-86, college: S.Carolina) answered with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and Dutch forward Sharon Beld (186-88) added 14 points in the effort for Oberhausen. Herner TC (3-4) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Oberhausen dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Herner TC will face Don Bosco Bamberg (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Oberhausen will play against ChemCats Chemnitz and hope to win that game.
