Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (3-4) was rolled over at home by leader Rotenburg/Scheessel (7-0) 67-44 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rotenburg/Scheessel. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel was better in third quarter 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rotenburg/Scheessel dominated on the defensive end, holding Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel to just 5 points in first quarter. Rotenburg/Scheessel forced 26 Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel turnovers and outrebounded them 50-26 including a 24-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for guard Janae Young (183-87, college: Pacific) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Kierra Mallard (190-90, college: Texas Tech) helped adding 8 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side guard Iwalani Rodrigues (175, college: Utah) responded with 19 points and 6 assists and forward Savannah Stedman (188-89, college: Northwestern) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Rotenburg/Scheessel. They maintain first place in North with 7-0 record. Loser Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Rotenburg/Scheessel will face Lichterfelde (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel will play against Hagen Phoenix and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the DBBL just one year after relegation.
