Regular Season Round 7: Lichterfelde - Hannover 83-54

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Lichterfelde (3-4) smashed at home higher ranked Hannover (3-4) 83-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Lichterfelde. Hannover was better in second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hannover to just 7 points in third quarter. Lichterfelde made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Hannover 41-16 including a 32-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Lena Gohlisch (173-93) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Power forward Satou Sabally (184-98) helped adding 17 points and 9 rebounds. Four Lichterfelde players scored in double figures. Lichterfelde's coach Timur Topal felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American guard Rayven Johnson (173-91, college: NJIT) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import power forward Samantha Heck (188, college: Evansville) scored 14 points. Lichterfelde moved-up to sixth place in North, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Hannover. Lichterfelde will face league's leader Rotenburg/Scheessel on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
