Regular Season Round 5: Aliaga - Karsiyaka 75-94

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Aliaga (1-4) was crushed at home by fifth ranked Karsiyaka (4-1) 94-75 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Karsiyaka. Aliaga was better in third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Karsiyaka looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Bobby Dixon (178-83, college: Troy, agency: Beo Basket) who scored 17 points and 9 assists. Uruguayan-Spanish power forward Esteban Batista (208-83, agency: Duran International) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. American swingman Sean Marshall (198-85, college: Boston Coll.) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Ceyhun Altay (196-86, agency: Court Side) added 16 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Karsiyaka moved-up to second place, which they share with Fener.Ulker and TED Kolejliler. Loser Aliaga dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. Karsiyaka will face Tofas (#6) in Bursa in the next round. Aliaga will play on the road against Trabzonspor (#16) and hope to win that game.
