Regular Season Round 6: Ruta-Univ. - Fortuna 68-91

Bottom-ranked Ruta-Univ. (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 91-68 loss to third ranked Fortuna (4-2) in Siauliai. The game was mostly controlled by Fortuna. Ruta-Univ. was better in third quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fortuna forced 20 Ruta-Univ. turnovers and outrebounded them 45-20 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for international power forward Egle Siksniute (198-91) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. International point guard Gabriele Gutkauskaite (175-90) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Fortuna's coach Ramune Kumpiene felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Belarusian point guard Katsiaryna Kashlei (171-90) replied with 16 points and 7 assists and forward Silvija Kuodiene (180-81) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Ruta-Univ.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fortuna have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 4-2 record having just two points less than leader Kibirkstis-VICI, which they share with Suduva. Ruta-Univ. at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Fortuna will play against Suduva (#4) in Marijampole in the next round. Ruta-Univ. will play on the road against the league's second-placed H-Sirenos (#2) in Kaunas and hopes to get finally their first victory.
