Regular Season Round 8: Stevnsgade - Amager 62-71

Date: November 15, 2013
The biggest surprise of round 8 in Dameligaen was guest Amager's (#2) road victory over Stevnsgade (#3) 71-62 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Stevnsgade. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Amager made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was swingman Catharina Jensen (183-89) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. American power forward Keyona Bryant (186-90, college: St.Augustine) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Julie Forster (183-91, college: Albany) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and her fellow American import forward Sarah Eichler (180-91, college: Green Bay) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Stevnsgade's coach Mogens Tygesen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Amager maintains second position with 7-1 record behind leader SISU. Newly promoted Stevnsgade keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Horsholm. Amager are looking forward to face Lemvig (#5) on the road in the next round. Stevnsgade will play against the league's leader SISU in Copenhagen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
