Regular Season Round 8: BG 89 Avides - Lichterfelde 85-51

2.Bundesliga top team - Rotenburg/Scheessel (8-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Lichterfelde (3-5) 85-51. The game without a history. Rotenburg/Scheessel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lichterfelde to just 7 points in second quarter. Rotenburg/Scheessel dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Lichterfelde's 28. Rotenburg/Scheessel forced 29 Lichterfelde turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a quality performance of point guard Emma lina Stach (175-96) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Kierra Mallard (190-90, college: Texas Tech) who added 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks during the contest. Forward Henriette Link (177-95) responded with 11 points and Slovakian center Erika Horvathova (190-86) scored 10 points. Lichterfelde's coach Timur Topal gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Rotenburg/Scheessel have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position in North with 8-0 record. Newly promoted Lichterfelde dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. Rotenburg/Scheessel will face SG BBZ Opladen (#4) in Leverkusen in the next round. Lichterfelde will play at home against Hagen Phoenix (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
