Regular Season Round 8: Final Genclik - Balikesir 87-94

Very predictable result in Bursa where third ranked Balikesir (6-2) beat 14th ranked Final Genclik (3-5) 94-87 on Saturday. Balikesir dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Final Genclik's 40. They outrebounded Final Genclik 38-23 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard D.J. Thompson (173-85, college: Appalachian St., agency: Hart Sports Mngm) who scored 26 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The other American import forward Juan Pattillo (201-88, college: W.Kentucky) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Balikesir's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St., agency: Two Points) produced 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and forward Ersan Ozseven (205-83) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Final Genclik players scored in double figures. Balikesir have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Akhisar Bld and Yesilgiresun. Loser Final Genclik dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Balikesir will face Pertevniyal (#12) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
