There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Friendsfactory Germering (2-6) won against at home higher ranked ASC Theresianum Mainz (4-4) 79-71 on Saturday. ASC Theresianum Mainz trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 23-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-79 at the end of the game. Friendsfactory Germering made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 ASC Theresianum Mainz turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Jezabel Ohanian (170-77) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and Polish forward Mirela Damaschek (186) who added 13 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Friendsfactory Germering players scored in double figures. Bulgarian guard Gergana Georgieva (180-87) responded with 26 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and forward Lilian Koch (180-90) scored 15 points. ASC Theresianum Mainz's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Friendsfactory Germering moved-up to tenth place in South, which they share with Rhein MB II. Loser ASC Theresianum Mainz dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Friendsfactory Germering will face Fellbach (#12) in the next round. ASC Theresianum Mainz will play against TSV Amicitia (#7) in Viernheim and hope to win that game.
