Very expected game when 13th ranked Timba Timosoara (1-7) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Craiova (4-4) 85-71. The game was mostly controlled by Craiova. Timba Timosoara was better in fourth quarter 27-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by the former international forward Bogdan Popescu (200-78, college: Alaska-Fairb.) who scored that evening 14 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Travis Bureau (203-88, college: La-Lafayette) supported him with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Even 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) by American point guard Kevin Bridgewaters (179-84, college: Chattanooga, agency: FCM) did not help to save the game for Timba Timosoara. His fellow American import power forward John Florveus (211-90, college: Georgia) added 17 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Craiova moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Timba Timosoara lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. Craiova's next round opponent will be Concordia (#12) in Chiajna where they are favorite. Timba Timosoara will play at home against Gaz Metan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
