Regular Season Round 8: Horsholm - Aabyhoj 80-66

Date: November 16, 2013
There was no surprise when 6th ranked Aabyhoj (3-5) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Horsholm (6-2) 80-66 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Horsholm's pressure prevailed and they won that period 17-6 extending their advantage to 14 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aabyhoj to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Horsholm made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Maja Gerlyng-Hansen (180-88, college: Siena) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and forward Anemone Scheel (184-95) who added 22 points during the contest. Horsholm's coach Nemanja Jovanovic used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Maria Jespersen (182-94) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American center Britt Harris (188, college: W.Washington) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Horsholm have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Stevnsgade. Aabyhoj at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Falcon. Horsholm will meet bottom-ranked Vaerlose (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aabyhoj will play against Falcon (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
