Regular Season Round 8: Vaerlose - Virum 68-75

Virum can celebrate finally their first win this season after seven consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Vaerlose, where they defeated Vaerlose (0-8) 75-68. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vaerlose won third quarter 23-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Virum won last quarter 21-15. They also forced 21 Vaerlose turnovers. Guard Ivana Kostic (177-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Jeanett Sorensen (178) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Virum players scored in double figures. Virum's coach Turi Hoegh allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Naturalized Saudi Arabian guard Hanna Sheikh (180-92) replied with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian center Janet Hatfield (190-85) added 8 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks in the effort for Vaerlose. Virum (1-7) left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Horsens. It was Vaerlose's eighth loss in a row. They still closes the standings with eight games lost. Virum will play against Horsens (#8) on the road in the next round. Vaerlose will play against Horsholm and hopes to get finally their first victory.
