Regular Season Round 8: Keltern - Bad Aibling 60-54

There was a change at the 2.Bundesliga leadership position after last games. The most important game of round 8 took place in Keltern between two undefeated teams of South where Gruner Stern Keltern beat Bad Aibling (7-1) 60-54 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Bad Aibling. It was a key game for the top position in South. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Bad Aibling won fourth quarter 13-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gruner Stern Keltern made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American guard Margaret Dwyer (185-85, college: Missouri St.) who helped to win the game recording 6 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian guard Brittany Moore (168-89) who added 15 points during the contest. Gruner Stern Keltern's coach Peter Kortmann used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Carla Bellscheidt (183-94) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Canadian swingman Emma Duinker (182-89) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Gruner Stern Keltern (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of South leader. Bad Aibling at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by BG 89 Avides. Bad Aibling will play next round against strong BasCats Heidelberg trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Gruner Stern Keltern will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked TG 1889 Sandhausen on the road.
