Regular Season Round 9: Telekom Bsk - Brose Bask. 69-83

Leading Telekom Bsk (7-2) recorded its second loss in Bonn. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Brose Bask. (7-2) 83-69. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Telekom Bsk. It looked good early as Telekom Bsk took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Brose Bask. had a 21-14 second period charge getting the lead and Telekom Bsk was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-83. Brose Bask. made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Brose Bask. outrebounded Telekom Bsk 34-19 including 22 on the defensive glass. American guard Jamar Smith (191-87, college: S.Indiana, agency: KMG Sports Management) stepped up and scored 15 points for the winners and Croatian-Swedish forward Damir Markota (209-85, agency: XL Basketball Agency) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American Tony Gaffney (205-84, college: Massachusetts) with 13 points and Lithuanian guard Benas Veikalas (192-83, college: Metro St.) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Brose Bask. have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Telekom Bsk and Art.Dragons. Brose Bask. will play against TBB Trier (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Telekom Bsk will play against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#16) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
