Regular Season Round 8: Gaz Metan - CSU Sibiu 70-73

Eleventh-ranked Gaz Metan (2-6) made lots of trouble for second ranked CSU Sibiu (7-1) in Medias. The visitors from Sibiu managed to secure only three-point victory 73-70. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gaz Metan won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Gaz Metan 42-28 including 19 on the offensive glass. Serbian guard Milos Bojovic (198-81, agency: Beo Basket) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. American center Christopher Lee (206-84, college: S.Carolina St., agency: Duran International) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Andrei Mandache (191-87, agency: Global Sports Plaza) replied with 21 points and American point guard Kyle Shiloh (191-85, college: Nevada) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Gaz Metan. Four Gaz Metan players scored in double figures. CSU Sibiu have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Ploiesti. Gaz Metan lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with six games lost. CSU Sibiu will play against Pitesti (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gaz Metan will play against Timba Timosoara in Timisoara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
