Very expected game when 11th ranked Oberhausen (2-6) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (5-3) 75-62 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-62. The best player for the winners was American forward Candace Williams (184-88, college: New Hampshire) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Dutch power forward Fieke Ligthart (185-90) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Four ChemCats Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Fijian guard Valerie Nainima (168-86, college: S.Carolina) produced 13 points and the former international point guard Lea Mersch (170-87) added 10 points respectively for the guests. ChemCats Chemnitz moved-up to second place, which they share with Halle and Rhein MB. Oberhausen lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. They share it with Bamberg. ChemCats Chemnitz will meet Don Bosco Bamberg (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
