Very expected game when bottom-ranked Urla BLD (0-4) was crushed on the road by leader Mersin Univ. (4-0) 110-46 on Friday. The game without a history. Mersin Univ. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Urla BLD to just 6 points in first quarter. Mersin Univ. dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Urla BLD's 34. Mersin Univ. forced 24 Urla BLD turnovers and outrebounded them 41-25 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Urla BLD's players. Center Kubra Dicle (187-92) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and forward Aysun Yararbas (185-91) chipped in 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Hulya Cakici (-88) responded with 16 points and Sumeyya Ozcan scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Mersin Univ.. They moved-up to second place in Group C. Urla BLD lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with four games lost. Mersin Univ. will face Bursa BSB (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Urla BLD will play against Nigde Turk Telekom and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
