Regular Season Round 8: H-Sirenos - Utena 80-48

Very expected game in Kaunas where 7th ranked Utena (1-7) was crushed by second ranked H-Sirenos (7-1) 80-48 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by H-Sirenos. Utena managed to win fourth quarter 13-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. H-Sirenos forced 26 Utena turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Kornelija Balciunaite (176-81) who scored 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The former international power forward Iveta Salkauske (197-82, college: Illinois, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Coach Linas Salkus's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Irma Raugaite (176-84) produced 17 points and Belarusian center Lidia Panasiuk (187-85) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. H-Sirenos have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 7-1 record behind leader Kibirkstis-VICI. Utena lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with seven games lost. H-Sirenos will meet league's leader Kibirkstis-VICI in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Utena will play against Fortuna (#4) and hope to win that game.
