Regular Season Round 9: Speyer - Rhein MB II 81-60

Date: November 23, 2013
There was no surprise in Dudenhofen where 11th ranked Rhein MB II (2-7) was crushed by fifth ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (5-4) 81-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. Speyer / Schifferstadt led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Speyer / Schifferstadt forced 19 Rhein MB II turnovers and outrebounded them 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Uta Gelbke (177-86) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. point guard Marie-Christine Schwaab (170-90) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Four Speyer / Schifferstadt players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Nadine Ripper (175-88) who recorded 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Kristin Annawald (184-93) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Speyer / Schifferstadt moved-up to third place in South, which they share with 3 other teams. Rhein MB II lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Speyer / Schifferstadt will face Weiterstadt (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Rhein MB II will play against the league's second-placed Bad Aibling and hope to win that game.
