Regular Season Round 9: Bamberg - Chemnitz 77-90

Very expected game when 11th ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (2-7) was defeated at home by fourth ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (6-3) 90-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by ChemCats Chemnitz. Don Bosco Bamberg managed to win third quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ChemCats Chemnitz dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Don Bosco Bamberg's 32. International point guard Tina Menz (175-88) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and swingman Ireti Amojo (177-90, college: Washington St.) chipped in 15 points and 14 rebounds. Five ChemCats Chemnitz players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Taleya Mayberry (167-91, college: Tulsa) with 31 points and the other American import guard Jessica Miller (173-88, college: Ill.-Chicago) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. ChemCats Chemnitz moved-up to second place, which they share with Halle. Don Bosco Bamberg lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. ChemCats Chemnitz will meet at home Eisvogel Freiburg (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Don Bosco Bamberg will play against Oberhausen and hope to secure a win.
