Regular Season Round 9: Maliye Milli - Istanbul DSI 64-77

Everything could happen in Ankara at the game between two tied teams. Both seventeenth ranked Istanbul DSI and 18th ranked Maliye Milli had identical 2-6 record. But Maliye Milli was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Istanbul 77-64. Maliye Milli was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 41-25 second half run of Istanbul DSI. The best player for the winners was American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Two Points) who scored 24 points and 5 assists. Guard Barkin Haluk Cinar (193-83) chipped in 22 points. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Sean Carter (205-88, college: Massachusetts) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and forward Sahin Ekmen (203-89) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Istanbul DSI (3-6) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Pertevniyal and Hacettepe. Maliye Milli at the other side stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Istanbul DSI's next round opponent will be league's leader Balikesir at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maliye Milli will play against the league's second-placed Darussafaka (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
