Regular Season Round 5: Sakarya - Balcova 57-48

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Balcova (1-3) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Sakarya (1-3) 57-48 on Saturday. Balcova was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 19-8 charge of Sakarya, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 27 Balcova turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Sevgi Esenler (-88) who helped to win the game recording 5 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists and Bahar Gokceri (-86) who added 17 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Seda Ozturk (-94) responded with 16 points and guard Sebnem Ozcelik (168-83) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sakarya left bottom position moving up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with defeated Balcova. It was Balcova's third loss in a row. Sakarya will face Izmir Eda (#7) on the road in the next round. Balcova will play against the league's second-placed Orman in Ankara and hope to win that game.
