Regular Season Round 7: Turk Telekom - Karsiyaka 96-74

The game between third ranked Karsiyaka (5-2) and twelfth ranked Turk Telekom (3-4) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Karsiyaka was crushed by Turk Telekom in Ankara 96-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Karsiyaka. The game was mostly controlled by Turk Telekom. Karsiyaka managed to win fourth quarter 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Turk Telekom shot 65.7 percent from the field. Turk Telekom outrebounded Karsiyaka 31-17 including 22 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 58.6 percentage. Turk Telekom looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Karsiyaka's players. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Kerem Tunceri (191-79) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 assists. American swingman Joshua Shipp (196-86, college: UCLA) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Jon Diebler (198-88, college: Ohio St.) scored 19 points. Five Turk Telekom and four Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. Karsiyaka's coach Ufuk Sarica gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Turk Telekom moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Selcuk Univ. and Olin Edirne. Karsiyaka at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Turk Telekom is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Trabzonspor (#16) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Karsiyaka will play against the league's leader Banvit BK (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
