Regular Season Round 9: Vaerlose - Horsholm 48-84

Bottom-ranked Vaerlose is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to third ranked Horsholm (7-2) 84-48 on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Horsholm led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Vaerlose to an opponent 21.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.8 percent accuracy of the winners and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Horsholm had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Horsholm made 8 blocks. Bosnian power forward Ivana Jovanovic (185-85) nailed 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and guard Emilie Schirmer (178-90) accounted for 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Canadian center Janet Hatfield (190-85) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and forward Alberte Dokkedal (186-91) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Vaerlose in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Horsholm. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Amager. Vaerlose lost their ninth game in a row. They still closes the standings with nine games lost. Horsholm will meet at home Lemvig (#5) in the next round. Vaerlose will play against Virum (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
