Regular Season Round 9: Wels - Gmunden 68-79

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Raiffeisen Wels (5-4) were defeated at home by seventh ranked Gmunden Swans (5-4) 79-68. The game was mostly controlled by Gmunden Swans. Raiffeisen Wels was better in second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gmunden Swans forced 19 Raiffeisen Wels turnovers. It was a good game for American point guard Jonathan Lee (188-90, college: Northeastern, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 4 assists. Forward Enis Murati (194-88) contributed with 18 points for the winners. American point guard Zamal Nixon (186-89, college: Houston) answered with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Raiffeisen Wels. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gmunden Swans. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Wels. Gmunden Swans will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Raiffeisen Wels will play on the road against UBSC Graz (#10) and hope to get back on the winning track.
