Regular Season Round 7: Halychyna - Azovmash 78-58

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Azovmash (5-2) against tenth ranked Halychyna (3-4) on Sunday night. Visiting Azovmash was crushed by Halychyna in Lviv 78-58. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Azovmash. It looked good early as Azovmash took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Halychyna had a 30-14 second period charge getting the lead and Azovmash was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-78. They outrebounded Azovmash 34-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Oleksandr Kolchenko (194-88, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American point guard Darrel Mitchell (181-84, college: LSU, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Halychyna players scored in double figures. Australian-Dutch power forward Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) answered with 15 points and American power forward Coleman Collins (207-86, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Beo Basket) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Azovmash. Halychyna moved-up to ninth place. Azovmash at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Halychyna will play against higher ranked Ferro-ZNTU (#7) in Zaporozhye in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Azovmash will play on the road against Budivelnyk (#8) in Kyiv and hopes to get back on the winning track.
