Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Mykolaiv was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 20-16 charge of Khimik, which allowed them to win the game. Khimik outrebounded Mykolaiv 44-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. American Romeo Travis (201-84, college: Akron) fired 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Jamal Shuler (191-86) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Khimik's coach Karlis Muiznieks used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Kervin Bristol (206-88, college: Fordham) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Latvian swingman Zanis Peiners (203-90) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Khimik. They moved-up to second place. Loser Mykolaiv dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Khimik will face Cherkasy (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Mykolaiv will play against Hoverla in Frankivsk and hope to win that game.
