Regular Season Round 9: Wolfenbuettel - BSW Sixers 111-87

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when twelfth ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (2-7) crushed at home 11th ranked BSW Sixers (2-7) 111-87 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Herzoege Wolfenbuettel. BSW Sixers was better in second period 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 BSW Sixers turnovers. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by BSW Sixers' players. It was a good game for American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Swingman Marius Poeschel (190-90) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel's coach Predrag Lukic felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Ralph Schirmer (204-86) answered with 25 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Nate Gerwig (206-83, college: Kent St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for BSW Sixers. Four Herzoege Wolfenbuettel and five BSW Sixers players scored in double figures. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel moved-up to tenth place in Group North, which they share with Stade and BSW Sixers. BSW Sixers lost seventh consecutive game. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will face league's second-placed SG Schwelmer Baskets on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BSW Sixers will play against SC Rist Wedel (#4) and hope to win that game.
