Regular Season Round 9: LSU-Atletas - Nevezis 58-61

The most exciting game of round 9 in the LKL took place in Kaunas. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 10th ranked LSU-Atletas (3-7) to second ranked Nevezis (6-2) 61-58 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. LSU-Atletas trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 18-9 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 58-61 at the end of the game. It was a good game for guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory with 22 points. Forward Rolandas Jakstas (202-92) contributed with 7 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. point guard Karolis Babkauskas (186-91) answered with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Zygimantas Skucas (200-92) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for LSU-Atletas. LSU-Atletas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Nevezis went down to third position due to points difference. LSU-Atletas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Juventus. Nevezis are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Lietkabelis (#11) in Panevezys in the next round and are hoping to win another game. LSU-Atletas will play on the road against Juventus in Utena and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
