Regular Season Round 7: SoyuzBasket - Avantazh-Pol. 81-78

The game had a very big importance for fifth-ranked SoyuzBasket as it allowed them to take a leadership position. SoyuzBasket edged 3rd placed Avantazh-Politekhnik in Shahtarsk 81-78. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Avantazh-Politekhnik. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Avantazh-Politekhnik was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. SoyuzBasket looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for forward Anton Buts (201-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points. Guard Vladislav Tonchenko (185-89) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. SoyuzBasket's coach Vladimir Bryaukhavetshy used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side point guard Vasil Sainiev (182-89) responded with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Timur Arabadzhi (192-81) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four Avantazh-Politekhnik players scored in double figures. SoyuzBasket (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Avantazh-Politekhnik at the other side dropped to the sixth place with one game lost. Avantazh-Politekhnik will play next round against Azovmash-2 trying to get back on the winning streak. SoyuzBasket will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked NEMO Odessa at home.
