Regular Season Round 9: Ruta-Univ. - Aistes-LSU 53-74

Bottom-ranked Ruta-Univ. (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 74-53 loss to fifth ranked Aistes-LSU (4-5) in Siauliai. The game was mostly controlled by Aistes-LSU. Ruta-Univ. was better in second period 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aistes-LSU forced 26 Ruta-Univ. turnovers and outrebounded them 52-29 including a 24-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for international power forward Laura Svaryte (190-92) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 23 rebounds. Forward Jolanta Marmiene (181-79) contributed with 7 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Aistes-LSU's coach Ricardas Maceina felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Ieva Kazlauskaite (178-94) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and Belarusian forward Tatsiana Khatsko (187-89) added 8 points in the effort for Ruta-Univ.Aistes-LSU maintains fifth place with 4-5 record. Ruta-Univ. lost their ninth game in a row. They still closes the standings with nine games lost. Aistes-LSU will play against Utena (#7) at home in the next round. Ruta-Univ. will play against Suduva in Marijampole and hopes to get finally their first victory.
