Regular Season Round 7: Musson - Avangard 60-73

Very expected game in Symferopil where 11th ranked Musson (1-4) was defeated by fifth ranked Avangard (5-1) 73-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Avangard. Musson managed to win fourth quarter 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Musson to just 2 points in third quarter. Avangard made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Point guard Pavlo Tsiopych (180-86) fired 22 points for the winners. The former international forward Viktor Gerasimchuk (200-81) chipped in 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Avangard players scored in double figures. The former international center Volodymyr Gurtovoy (207-75) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and forward Igor Kozhevatov (195-88) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Avangard. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Kirovograd. Loser Musson dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
