There was no surprise when 7th ranked TG 1889 Sandhausen (4-6) was outleveled on the road by fourth ranked BasCats Heidelberg (6-4) 93-33 on Saturday. The game without a history. BasCats Heidelberg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding TG 1889 Sandhausen to just 6 points in third quarter. BasCats Heidelberg held TG 1889 Sandhausen to an opponent 23.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 57.7 percent accuracy of the winners. BasCats Heidelberg forced 30 TG 1889 Sandhausen turnovers and outrebounded them 40-17 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. BasCats Heidelberg looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by TG 1889 Sandhausen's players. The other American import point guard Serena Benavente (167-85, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 19 points, 8 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Five BasCats Heidelberg players scored in double figures. Forward Jennifer Klett (179-84) replied with 13 points (made all of her eight free throws) and guard Laura Mussgnug (174-85) added 7 points in the effort for TG 1889 Sandhausen. BasCats Heidelberg moved-up to third place in South, which they share with Mainz. Loser TG 1889 Sandhausen keeps the seventh position with six games lost. BasCats Heidelberg will face league's leader Gruner Stern Keltern on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. TG 1889 Sandhausen will play against Rhein MB II (#12) and hope to win that game.
