Regular Season Round 11: Istanbul B.B. - Ankara DSI Era 87-72

The game between third ranked Ankara DSI Era (7-4) and fifth ranked Istanbul B.B. (7-4) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Ankara DSI Era was defeated by Istanbul B.B. in Istanbul 87-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ankara DSI Era. The game was mostly controlled by Istanbul B.B.. Ankara DSI Era managed to win fourth quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ankara DSI Era 41-25 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Istanbul B.B. shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Ankara DSI Era's players. It was a great evening for American forward Eric Buckner (208-90, college: Georgia St., agency: David Lee services) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 20 rebounds. Forward Hadi Ozdemir (203-83) helped adding 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Hakan Erol (200-83, agency: Ali Guney BA) responded with 19 points and American point guard Lamar Karim (178-83, college: So.Poly State, agency: Interperformances) scored 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ankara DSI Era's coach rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Istanbul B.B. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Ankara DSI Era. Istanbul B.B. is looking forward to face Hacettepe (#16) in Ankara in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ankara DSI Era's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Ankara Maliye Milli.
