Regular Season Round 10: Targu Mures - Rapid 53-79

Bottom-ranked Targu Mures (0-10) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their tenth consecutive match to eleventh ranked Rapid (3-7) 79-53 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Rapid. Targu Mures managed to win fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rapid dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Targu Mures' 28. Rapid forced 25 Targu Mures turnovers and outrebounded them 44-24 including 19 on the offensive glass. The former international guard Florina Diaconu (170-82) fired 26 points and 4 assists (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Center Roxana Bejan (187) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Four Rapid players scored in double figures. Rapid's coach Dan Militaru felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hungarian center Andrea Vincze (190-89) produced 16 points and guard Mihaela Mihai (169-90) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Rapid moved-up to tenth place. Loser Targu Mures still closes the standings with ten games lost. Rapid will meet at home Craiova (#13) in the next round. Targu Mures will play against Oradea in Oradea and hope to get finally their first victory.
