Regular Season Round 10: Schwelm - Wolfenbuettel 124-112 OT

Tenth-ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (2-8) gave a tough game to second ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (8-2) on Saturday. SG Schwelmer Baskets managed to secure only twelve-point victory 124-112. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 30-20 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 32-20. SG Schwelmer Baskets shot 62.7 percent from the field. American point guard David Hicks (183-88, college: LIU Brooklyn) scored 50 points (!!!) and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Sebastian Schroter (207-83) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Five SG Schwelmer Baskets players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with 54 points (!!!) and his fellow American import guard Demetrius Ward (190-90, college: W.Michigan) scored 21 points, 8 assists and 6 steals. SG Schwelmer Baskets have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group North leader, which they share with Hannover. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel at the other side keeps the tenth place with eight games lost. SG Schwelmer Baskets will face Spot Up Medien Baskets (#5) in Braunschweig in the next round. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will play at home against Oldenburg (#7) and hope to win that game.
