Regular Season Round 10: Pitesti - Timba Timis. 104-64

The game between eighth ranked Pitesti (5-5) and 13th ranked Timba Timosoara (1-9) in Pitesti on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Pitesti outscored guests from Timisoara 104-64. The game was mostly controlled by Pitesti. Timba Timosoara was better in third quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pitesti dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Timba Timosoara's 26. They outrebounded Timba Timosoara 47-27 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pitesti looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for Serbian-Bosnian power forward Marko Djurkovic (205-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Senegalese power forward Ousmane Barro (207-84, college: Marquette) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners. Four Pitesti players scored in double figures. Swingman Florin Popa (194) replied with 21 points and American power forward John Florveus (211-90, college: Georgia) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Timba Timosoara. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pitesti moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Steaua CSM and BC Timisoara. Timba Timosoara lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. Pitesti will face Craiova (#9) on the road in the next round. Timba Timosoara's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Timisoara BC Timisoara.
