Regular Season Round 11: Fraport SKY - Phoenix Hagen 82-79

A very interesting game took place in Frankfurt. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Phoenix Hagen (5-5) to tenth ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (6-5) 82-79 in the game for the eighth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Phoenix Hagen. The hosts were already 11 points ahead at halftime and as many as 12 after three quarters before a 23-14 last quarter charge of Phoenix Hagen cut the lead to 82-79 at the end of the game. Deutsche Bank Skyliners made 23-of-29 charity shots (79.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Phoenix Hagen 36-24 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Senegalese center Aziz N'Diaye (213-88, college: Washington) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Canadian-American guard Andrew Rautins (193-86, college: Syracuse) accounted for 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Five Deutsche Bank Skyliners players scored in double figures. American guard Mark Dorris (188-85, college: Marshall, agency: Court Side) came up with 25 points and the other American import forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Phoenix Hagen in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Deutsche Bank Skyliners. They moved-up to eighth place. Phoenix Hagen at the other side dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Deutsche Bank Skyliners' next round opponent will be Mitteldeutscher BC (#15) in Weissenfels and are hoping to win another game. Phoenix Hagen will play at home against EWE Baskets (#3) and hope to win that game.
