Very important is a road loss of third ranked Azovmash (5-3) against seventh ranked Budivelnyk (5-3) on Sunday night. Visiting Azovmash was defeated by Budivelnyk in Kyiv 82-65. The game without a history. Budivelnyk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Budivelnyk had a 36-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Azovmash was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Lithuanian center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized Lithuanian center Michailis Anisimovas (216-84) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Budivelnyk players scored in double figures. Australian-Dutch power forward Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) replied with 21 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Marcus Ginyard (196-87, college: N.Carolina) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Azovmash. Azovmash's coach Sergei Zavalin rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Budivelnyk have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Azovmash. Budivelnyk will play against league's second-placed BC Odessa on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Azovmash will have a break next round.
