Regular Season Round 12: Hacettepe - Istanbul B.B. 88-108

Very expected game in Ankara where 16th ranked Hacettepe (3-9) was rolled over by third ranked Istanbul B.B. (8-4) 108-88 on Friday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Istanbul B.B.'s pressure prevailed and they won that period 31-17 extending their advantage to 20 points. Istanbul B.B. outrebounded Hacettepe 41-23 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Istanbul B.B. looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Tufan Onen (202-89) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Eric Buckner (208-90, college: Georgia St., agency: David Lee services) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Istanbul B.B.'s coach used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Sezgin Eris (185-85) who recorded 19 points and 8 assists and power forward Nezih Ozbakir (206-80) added 23 points respectively. Five Istanbul B.B. and four Hacettepe players scored in double figures. Istanbul B.B. have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Hacettepe lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with nine games lost. Istanbul B.B. will face Maliye Milli (#16) in Ankara in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Hacettepe will play at home against Antalya and hope to win that game.
