Regular Season Round 7: Dynamo - Elizabeth-Basket 68-75

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Dynamo (8-1) in Kyiv on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by first ranked Elizabeth-Basket (7-1) 75-68. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-18. But Dynamo won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Elizabeth-Basket forced 19 Dynamo turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Dynamo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for the former international guard Olga Dubrovina (170-87, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 9 rebounds and 15 assists. American forward Kerri Gardin (186-84, college: Virginia Tech) helped adding 13 points and 12 rebounds. Five Elizabeth-Basket players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Nicole Michael (188-87, college: Syracuse, agency: Two Points) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Arina Markotenko (170-89) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Despite that victory Elizabeth-Basket went down to second position due to points difference. Defending champion Dynamo still keeps top place with one game lost. Elizabeth-Basket are looking forward to face Tim-Scuf (#4) in Kyiv in the next round. Dynamo will play against Astana Tigers and is hoping to win this game.
