Regular Season Round 9: Banvit BK - Trabzonspor 94-78

TBL top team - Banvit BK (8-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat fourteenth ranked Trabzonspor (1-8) in Balikesir 94-78. The game was mostly controlled by Banvit BK. Trabzonspor was better in third quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Banvit BK shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) stepped up and scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American guard Keith Simmons (196-85, college: Holy Cross, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Banvit BK's coach Dimitris Itoudis used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American-Mexican point guard Paul Stoll (180-85) scored 23 points and 5 assists. Banvit BK maintains first place with 8-1 record. Trabzonspor lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Mersin. Banvit BK will play against Usak (#4) on the road in the next round. Trabzonspor will play against Selcuk Universitesi (#12) to get more than just one victory in their record.
