Regular Season Round 10: Khimik-2 - Dnepr 75-74

The most exciting game of round 10 in the Higher League took place in Yuzhny. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Dnepr (6-3) to fifth ranked Khimik-2 (6-1) 75-74 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Dnepr. Dnepr was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 9-point lead after three quarters before a 28-18 charge of Khimik-2, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dnepr to just 7 points in second quarter. Khimik-2 forced 21 Dnepr turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Dnepr helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Illya Sydorov (183-96) had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds, 12 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Olexandr Belikov (200-92) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side point guard Maksym Zakurdarev (193-93) responded with 22 points and point guard Andriy Kobets (192-93) scored 10 points and 9 assists. Four Dnepr players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Khimik-2 moved-up to second place, which they share with Kirovograd and Avangard. Dnepr at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Khimik-2 is looking forward to face Musson (#12) in Symferopil in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dnepr will have a break next round.
