Regular Season Round 9: BC Odessa - Budivelnyk 75-71

An interesting game for BC Odessa (7-2) which hosted in Odessa 4th placed Budivelnyk (5-4). Third ranked BC Odessa managed to get a 4-point victory 75-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Budivelnyk. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-10. But Budivelnyk won second period 23-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when BC Odessa won last quarter 24-21. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for American guard Terrell Everett (193-84, college: Oklahoma) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international Andriy Agafonov (208-86, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) answered with 27 points and 9 rebounds and American swingman Ricky Minard (196-82, college: Morehead St.) added 15 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Budivelnyk. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BC Odessa have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 7-2 record behind leader BC Donetsk. Defending champion Budivelnyk dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Ferro-ZNTU. BC Odessa are looking forward to face league's second-placed Khimik in Yuzhny in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Budivelnyk will play at home against Cherkasy (#12) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
