Regular Season Round 10: Istanbul Univ. - Kayseri 66-57

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Kayseri (9-1) on the court of fourth ranked Istanbul Universitesi on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Istanbul Universitesi 66-57. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Kayseri. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-16. But Kayseri won second period 18-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Shenise Johnson (180-90, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Crystal Langhorne (188-86, college: Maryland) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Istanbul Universitesi players scored in double figures. Tanisha Wright (180-83, college: Penn St., agency: LBM Management) replied with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (made all of her ten free throws !!!) and swingman Camille Little (188-85, college: N.Carolina) added 9 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Kayseri. Istanbul Universitesi have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Fenerbahce. Kayseri at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. Istanbul Universitesi is looking forward to face Besiktas (#7) in Istanbul in the next round. Kayseri will play at home against the league's leader Galatasaray (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
