Regular Season Round 10: Mykolaiv - Azovmash 99-91

There was an upset when higher ranked Azovmash (5-4) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Mykolaiv (3-5) 99-91 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Azovmash won fourth quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mykolaiv made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Azovmash was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Latvian swingman Zanis Peiners (203-90) scored 23 points and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Alexander Sizov (199-88) chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American swingman Marcus Ginyard (196-87, college: N.Carolina) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and international Maksym Pustozvonov (200-87, agency: Beo Basket) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Four Mykolaiv and five Azovmash players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Mykolaiv went down to eleventh position due to points difference. Azovmash lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Mykolaiv will face higher ranked Halychyna (#7) in Lviv in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Azovmash will play at home against BC Odessa having rather not much hope for a victory.
