Regular Season Round 8: Cankaya - Izmir BSB 98-68

An interesting game for Cankaya (7-0) which hosted in Ankara 3rd ranked Izmir BSB (5-2). Top-ranked Cankaya had an easy win 98-68. The game without a history. Cankaya led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Izmir BSB's 42. Cankaya forced 25 Izmir BSB turnovers and outrebounded them 42-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: Indiana NW) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Munevver Basak (-86) chipped in 17 points and 9 assists. Burcu Alakus (-91) produced 19 points and 6 assists and Hande Celebi (-90) added 19 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cankaya have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A with 7-0 record. Izmir BSB at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. Cankaya's next round opponent will be Anadolu Univ. (#5) in Eskisehir. Izmir BSB will play at home against Harran Univ. and hope to win that game.
