Regular Season Round 12: Aistes-LSU - H-Sirenos 55-63

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kaunas: H-Sirenos (#1) and Aistes-LSU (#5). Aistes-LSU was defeated at home 55-63 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Aistes-LSU trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 24 after three quarters before a 25-9 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 55-63 at the end of the game. H-Sirenos dominated on the defensive end, holding Aistes-LSU to just 3 points in first quarter. They also forced 22 Aistes-LSU turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Iveta Salkauske (197-82, college: Illinois, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Rasa Zemantauskaite (176-81) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. H-Sirenos' coach Linas Salkus used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Ieva Stankeviciute (174-89) who recorded 17 points and 4 steals and international power forward Laura Svaryte (190-92) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively. H-Sirenos (11-1) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position, which they share with Kibirkstis-VICI. Aistes-LSU lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with eight games lost. H-Sirenos is looking forward to face Suduva (#3) in Marijampole in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Aistes-LSU will play on the road against Fortuna in Klaipeda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
